LINEA was founded in 1997 as a print journal to capture the evolving ideas and creative energy of the Art Students League of New York. In 2012, it transitioned online, opening its reach to a global community of artists and readers.

Today, LINEA begins a third chapter, publishing original interviews, essays, reviews, and in-depth scholarship that celebrates and examines the League’s 150 years of impact on artists, movements, and art education. By centering the artist’s voice and supporting new research, LINEA preserves creative legacies, advances original discourse, and fosters dialogue across disciplines, studios, and generations, reflecting the enduring spirit of exchange that defines life at the League.

LINEA welcomes letters to the editor, comments, suggestions, and corrections.
