The Instructors Exhibition 2017

For the last several decades, the Instructors Exhibition has opened the fall season in the Phyllis Harriman Mason Gallery at the Art Students League. In an atelier-based school, like the League, an instructor’s work of art can serve as a kind of shorthand for the unique curriculum that he or she brings to the studio. This year we welcome ten artists into the regular season corps of instructors: Sigmund Abeles, who will be teaching Mastery & Empathic Figure Drawing; Garin Baker, who will be teaching Direct Figure & Portrait Painting; Peter Bonner, who will be teaching Abstraction: Inspiration & Development of IdeasBil Donovan, who will be teaching Dynamic Fashion Drawing; Emily Hubley, who will be teaching Two-Dimensional Animation; Simon Levenson, who will be teaching Oil Painting from Life—Understanding Painting; Fran O’Neill, who will be teaching Painting, Color, Design; Kamilla Talbot, who will be teaching En Plein Air Watercolor Painting on Governors Island; Jason Yarmosky, who will be teaching Elements of Drawing, Anatomy for Artists; and Weiqing Yuan, who will be teaching Exploring Watercolors.
