Mary Beth McKenzie Retrospective at the Erie Art Museum

by LINEA STAFF | September 5, 2018

In this three-minute video, Susan Barnett, curator of Mary Beth McKenzie’s current retrospective at the Erie Art Museum, suggests that McKenzie’s works possess a palpable “sense of time” and “sense of deep space that surrounds the figures” because she does not rely on photographic reference. Rudy Bravo’s film also offers an interview with Mary Beth and a beautiful sweep of the installation, which is filled with many of the artist’s largest canvases. The exhibition continues through September 24. More of Mary Beth McKenzie’s work is available to see on her newly designed website[1].
