“How does one paint autumn?” asks Jerry N. Weiss in “Autumn’s Lament & License,” forthcoming in the November 2014 issue of the Artist’s Magazine (PDF preview here[1]). The difficulty, he suggests, lies in “painting a spectacular subject, without the painting itself suffering the unfortunate consequences of clashing colors.” The article offers several insights that Weiss calls “principles of unity.”
