From January through May each year, students are invited to participate in the Art Students League’s class concours exhibition in the Phyllis Harriman Mason Gallery. Under the guidance of their instructors, students select works to display, which will be judged by other League instructors. The judges award Red Dots for those works deemed best in show. At the end of the season, several Red Dot pieces are purchased for the school’s permanent collection.
Last week the classes of Robert Cenedella, Leonid Gervits, and Rhoda Sherbell exhibited. Red dots were awarded to Larry D’Arrigo, Henry Gurule, Arlene D’Arienzo, Vladimir Bydin, Wilfredo Marrero, and Thaddeus Gosciewski.. This week’s exhibition includes work from the classes of Richard Pantell, Michael Pellettieri, Bill Behnken, Sylvie Covey, and Jonathan Shahn. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
