The Studio Project | Frederick Brosen

This is my studio room in my Upper West Side apartment, at 77th street & Broadway to be exact. Although I have worked here for only a little over a year, the UWS is where I grew up, and lived until I was in my early 20s. I am a creature of habit, and the five days a week I normally paint I am in the studio at 5:30 AM, and work until around noon. I find the early morning is a particularly peaceful and introspective time, and out of my window I can watch the first light rise against the skyline, a very fortunate view for a cityscape painter!

By the way, that’s Blue, my studio assistant on the table, and I’m an old roundball player from back in the day.
