The Studio Project | G. L. Sussman

by G. L. Sussman | April 5, 2013

My studio is in Hoosick Falls, New York, near Bennington, Vermont, and 189 miles from New York City. In 1982, I bought land from Jose de Creeft, after having lived with him as his apprentice, off and on, from 1971 to 1976.

"I built my wife's studio with found objects from the streets of New York. The only thing I bought was the metal roof and insulation. When I resigned from my directorship at the Sculpture Center, we all lived—two baby boys, two cats, and two dogs—in 600 square feet while I was building our main house."
