I was immediately drawn to monotypes because they are very close to painting. Monotypes have a quality all their own, a freshness and spontaneity.

I think it’s important to be able to paint exactly what you want. For me that meant not having to do illustrations or take portrait commissions for a living. I had to be independent.

I’ve been living and working in my studio on Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn since 1980.
