Each year from January to May, new student work is exhibited in the Phyllis Harriman Mason Gallery at the Art Students League. These exhibits showcase the work of students in painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, mixed media. Due to the evolving global health crisis, all onsite League exhibitions and receptions have been suspended. In its place, the League is pleased to announce our series of virtual concours hosted by LINEA. These rotating exhibitions serve not only to inspire and engage digital visitors, they also connect League artists to the general public, premier galleries, and collectors around the world. Many works are available for purchase, with all proceeds going directly to the artist. Inquiries welcome.
While we look forward to reopening our historic gallery, we are proud to launch this new interactive feature that connects art enthusiasts virtually with art being made at the League.
This week’s digital gallery presents notable work from students in Janet A. Cook’s class “Painting from Life, Portraiture,” Leonid Gervits’s classes “Painting from Life: Portraiture and Composition” (EVE and Sun), Christopher Gallego’s class “Observational Drawing, Painting and Composition,” and Marshall Jones’s class “Contemporary Narrative Painting,” and Oscar Garcia’s classes “Sculpting in Wax” (AM, LPM, EVE).
